The Vault Project

The opportunity of participating in the Vault Series was to use the special qualities of the space to take my work in a somewhat different direction. I wanted to explore the space around and between the works and challenge the viewer's concept of where the space begins and ends. I couldn't rely on boxes or shelves to prescribe the space for each piece--the vault is the space--and the objects were to activate it. The challenge was to make the "negative" space of the vault as interesting as the "positive" objects.
